Yamaha RX-V373 AV receiver's protection circuity is activated when there is fluctuation in power three (3) consecutive times. This protection mode disables the capability to "turn on" the device.
To disable this:
Hold "Info + Tone Control + Straight" for at least five seconds, while still holding, press the "Power" button.
Manually reboot the AVR for normal operation.

ReplyDeleteFor RX-V377, simply hold INFO + TONE CONTROL for 5 seconds and while still pressed click POWER (do not hold it).
ReplyDeleteHi all. I have this issue on a 373. I have tried both steps and all I get is a click. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteany updates to this thread? I tried all of the above on my V375 but I got nothing (not even a click).
ReplyDeletesame issue
DeleteI did this on a V373, and it worked. I cant say for a V375.
DeleteHowever, there is a comment for V377. You could try it. "For RX-V377, simply hold INFO + TONE CONTROL for 5 seconds and while still pressed click POWER (do not hold it)"
I did the same.
ReplyDeleteIt keeps on verifying
no solution.
Since its verifying, then it came on. It best to manually reboot the AVR.
DeleteWhat does "manually reboot AVR" mean?
ReplyDeleteit didn't work on my avr

ReplyDeleteHow to do a manual reset?
I have the same problem with my brand new Y R-N303. Frustrating...
ReplyDeleteWorked fine for my RX-V373, though I did unplug it first, and then plugged it back in before hitting Info+Tone Control+Straight for ~10seconds, then Power.
ReplyDeleteAfter performing the circuit-protector reset. What is this bypass message that comes up on the avr screen?
ReplyDeleteCan't get it to work, just a click .. any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteworked on my outdoor v677. info + tone control (must hold for at least 5-10 seconds) then click the power button. IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DON'T HOLD THE INFO AND TONE DOWN FIRST!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks- I have a RX-V385 and it worked just fine. Had to hold the combination of buttons down for 10+ seconds, then hit power.

ReplyDeleteDid not work on my V383. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteit worked for me but what do i do next ?
ReplyDeleteGracias a vuestros comentarios, puede desbloquear mi RX-V379 que, por razones desconocidas, se puso en I PROTECT. Pulsé tone+info por más de 5 sec, luego power y se puso en modo de alguna configuración desconocida. Apagué y volví a encender y funcionó. Lo estoy probando... Saludos desde Argentina
ReplyDeleteEstimados.
Saludos!!
Worked for me on a RX-V677. Had the blinking red light. Now works perfectly. Held down info+tone control + straight, hit power on button and it lit up! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteDid not work for me on RX-V479 no matter how long I held down the buttons. However, the display did briefly flash "NO PROTECT" and then 3 error codes one after another: E4, EN, SC
ReplyDeleteThis works for the RX-V477 (info + control @ 5 seconds then press power button and release all buttons at the same time)... but after resetting and turning it back on, it goes back into protection mode after the three triesto power it up. I changed power outlets and I live in a modern home and I am not aware of any power fluctuations. Is it time to shell out some $$$ for repair or is it better to replace. Although my unit is a few years old, it has barely ever been used. Anyone gotta clue what the issue could be ? Any help is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWill this work with a TSR 5830?
ReplyDeleteIs there a protection fuse? May have had a lightning issue.
